it would have to be people from forums and not in the game. in game you can just squelch and move on, rank them and leave etc. in the forums every thing you 'say' is subject to scrutiny. MOST people dont abuse it and just try to voice their opinion. thats certainly not always the case but the ones that do are the ones that make me wanna reach thru my screen and punch their go red engine etc. i've even seen someone directly talk shit on a dev in the forums, thats just the epitome of someone i dont want playing the same game as me.

3 Jerk stories
1st Jerk story
---Underworld---
I am a Mo/R and I just wanted to go to UW (my first time)to check it out. I was invited by a leader who was a W/R. He wanted to get the spider so he told me not to bring charm animal.
I agreed.
Anyways before going, I mentioned that it was my first time and I got everyone to aknowledge that they had read that.
(Thus warned I won't get yelled at for not knowing anything ).
When we get there he asks me to call my skills, I do and he counts 6 of them(I had unyielding aura and resurection that I couldn't cast/call) So he proceeds to rant and rave and I assured him I do not have charm animal I have (aforementioned skills)
Jerk:*insert many swear words etc....**
As the game progresses each time we ran into a bit of trouble he starts swearing at me saying that I suck because I have the charm animal skill so I am missing one skill because of it.
Other players get annoyed at him because I had (during the course of playing) called out all of the different skills and I *did* have unyielding aura and res. And I was healing them very efficiently considering the other monk was a smiting Mo/W and not healing at all!
So they proceeded in swearing at *him* and calling him a jerk and to lay off me.
(Which was cool )
Another facet of his jerkyness: He kept running way in the front agrooing monsters before waiting for the other warriors and players to get to help him and died often cause I couldn't reach him to heal, thus further blaming me for his own incompetance. I kept making T_T faces (lol) and the other players felt bad for me and emberassed by him (a few where guildies).
__________________________________________________ ___________
2nd jerk story
D'Allessio Seaboard mission
A party of level 12-16 and one Warrior/Mo level 20 comprises our group.
Anyways we get to the poisoned water part near the end of the mission and get our asses kicked while the Warrior went to do bonus. He comes back and starts to Rebirth our E/Mo (only healer we had) **WHILE** in the poison water.
Well needless to say he reses her in poisoned water and she promptly dies giving her more DP. He proceeds to do the same with 2 other players while we PM, (all chat) team chat him. And he ignores all of us.
Long story short, one of the players was finnally resurected (no thanks to the level 20) and resed us out of the poisoned water successfully. We finnished the mission with many curses.
__________________________________________________ ____-
3rd Jerk story
(I don't know if it's true.... or if other sellers would act like this)
Droknar's forge
A player was selling weapons and I asked if I could see them.
He then proceeded swearing at me, and I asked him why he's acting that way?
Jerk: You don't ask to see, you n00b, you go open a trade channel with me!
Me: But how can I know where you are?
Jerk: OMFG you n00b if you don't know then don't ask!
(By the way he wasn't at storage and I knew how to use Cntrl+alt, try using it in Drok and find a specific guy and you'll know what I mean).
Me: That's a sure way to attract potential buyers. Hope you never get to sell your weapon(puts him on ignore).
This weapon was not all that great (and I wasn't looking for something perfect). He had been messaging his offer for a while (meaning no one was interested). Since he was messaging often then he wasn't busy and there was no need for him to get so angry. If I was wasting his time by pming him then why would he waste even more time messaging insults to me instead of a: ''Near merchant, open trade to see.''

My 3rd character just went post-sear. Someone tried to sell me Black Dye for just 100 gold below the trader's selling price.
I said "no thx," but the guy was offended and started calling me a "n00b" just because I didn't buy it from him. So I opened up a trade window and showed him the 152 vials of Black Dye I already had.
That shut him up fast.

I was farming in FoW. My team had two monks as usual. Just at the entrance of the forge (the long ravine) in an epic battle with the shadows, 7 of us died while killing them. The eight was a monk. The fight dropped 2 shards, for me and another guy. This monk (jerk) instead of rezzing us, cooly waits till he can pick up the shards for himself and leaves and we r stuck like dead ducks -- 7 MAD PEEPS and 2 VERY MAD PEEPS.

Last nite, while doing a 5 Man Final Assault farm run, 2 Eles, 2 Monks, 1 Warrior (ME)
We finish the run (some decent drops *razorstone* for me)
I announce, well I'm just gonna run in and grab this last miners chest. Now this last chest was inside a very evil area, full of forge guardians (knockdown), only a warrior with Balanced Stance (me) is going anywhere near it. So I run in with the 1 monk and 1 ele both hot on my heels, I pop the chest for me and out pops a rare longbow, however when I try to pick it up I get the oh so dreaded Inventory full, I immediately hit I and look for a crap armor to drop, I drop it and right as I'm about to pickup the rare I die. The two followers didn't make it nearly as far and were already dead. I was way to far in to be res'd.
Now there are 2 people left alive one monk (we'll call him Protector of Jerk , to protect the innocent) and one nice Ele. The ele tries to run in but dies quickly.
A valiant attempt but I knew none of them could get my item after the timeout I think no problem. I think to myself when they disconnect, I'll res at the shrine
Each player drops off leaving me alone with Protector of Jerk.
Now this guy is apparently a grief kiddy, he doesn't leave, instead he runs ALL THE WAY back to the entrance to SF and sits down.
By this time I'm fuming, I can see his intent is to annoy me. He tells me that I can't do anything about it and tells me to res myself (wtf?).
I go afk and when I come back he has zoned into Grenth's Footprint, leaving my Gold longbow in the void. Bastard!

The biggest jerk I've ever seen single handedly blew the bonus on two consecutive missions. This jerk first kills the centaurs in the wilds mission then kills the guardians in the bloodstone fen mission. Both times the team repeated "DON'T KILL <cent/guard>" before the bonus was activated. I didn't realize he was with my 2nd group until he screwed up the bonus. Never said I'm sorry to the group just kept on playing.
General jerks are smiting monks that don't tell the group they can't heal. I was with a group on the Abandon's Mouth mission with 5 of 8 of the team dead and me and another remaining lifer doing everything we could to keep the last monk alive. Once we cleared the area the monk tells us he/she doesn't have a rez spell on them...what???? I monk without rez?!!? Might be nice to tell somebody before everyone is dead!!

Mine's not as bad as some of these but what the H E double elle...
Back when I played through the game completely (my first character), you weren't able to unlock all the basic skills through quests. Someone asks in open chat if you could get all the skills for your profession just by playing through the game. So I say "no" thinking nothing of it.
I instantly got about 100 tells calling me a n00b, cussing and all that. It was like instant asshole magnetism. One of them was really nice about it. It talked about how he was in alpha and how he knew the game so well and all that. Typical BS.
So I eventually got him to provide me with a website showing me what quests gave what skills. It turns out that you still can't get all of the skills through quests for some classes. So I tell that guy that he was kind of right, because you can get most of them through quests but you couldn't get very many of them when I played through the game. His only reply, "I'm always right."

This guy cursed me out during a run cause I zoned out while everyone was dead in front of a portal (you will NOT RESPAWN AT THE END PORTAL) rather than die.
Him: I"VE BEATEN THE GAME 7 TIMES
Me: how many times does the lich revive himself
Him: there is no lich
Me: yes there is
Him: *OPENS UP THE CURSE DICTIONARY*
Me: In guild chat: guys, we need to spam (name), he's giving free items
Guild: rgr, k, np (knows what I'm talking about)
1 minute later: OMG WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE PMING ME

My favourite jerk is the one who starts saying
"OMFG what n00b"
"Your a *curse, curse, curse, curse, i hate necros, your all curse, curse"
so you then you say, dude go away
But he or (she, i doubt it) has put you in the his/hers ingnore list. (but continue to tell you that you suck, even though you had err=7)
This is the most pathetic act i've seen, if your gonna dish crap out you gotta learn to take it back, and people have a thing called lag *sarcastic voice*, ( i cant wait till these people turn 11)
---
My second experince was in the random arena (get the most kills)
#1: What no monks F**K that
#1 has left the game
#2 well stuff this im going
#2 has left the game
#3 has left the game
4,3,2,1, score more kills then the opposing team
enemy #1 What happended to you team?
Me: they all left
enemy #2 that sucks
Me: well im bored so i'll let you kill me for faction
enemy #2 thanks
The point of this is the guy who leaves at the start of the game just becuase we didnt have any monks, man i hate this, if you want a monk GO TO TEAM ARENA'S.
-Is it just me or do most of the jerks tend to be W/Mo with FoW armor?
With the above post with the black dyes, i pissed myself laughing

Oh I got a couple of stories about this.
Here we go:
1- One guy started flaming me on local chat that my 15K dragon armor is ugly. I just switched dists and ignored him
2- In a quest in the northern shiverpeaks we were doing the quest that lets you go destoy some 3 machines for the dwarves. I said we need to go back and pick up the quest but the one guy said that after its done you can talk to the npc twice and complete it. Everyone else joined him so I just followed.
Quest was done and he ran back and got his reward and quit right away while everyone else is like WTF the npc only gives me the quest.
3- One of the wilds missions one guy begs us to do the bonus and as soon as its done he just quits.
4- But the stupidest ones are the ones that think that you are a girl if you have a female character. I get people coming and rubbing themselves agains my mesmer or pming me telling me I look pretty and stuff. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSERS

I always refer to a person as "he" or "she" based on their character gender.
But I never "rub" or hit on any of them cause thats just...I don't know what to say.

Lol!!! I agree that the smiting monk might be considered a jerk for entering a mission as smiter without letting the rest of the party know. On the other hand, I often see a general "jerkiness" regarding playing tactics: namely that a newly formed party does not chat before starting a mission to find out who is taking what skills, and what the group as a group might be lacking. Why not discuss this, and find out in advance that the monk is a smiter without rez? Why just get the group full and to the tune of "Gogogogogo" start the mission without sorting skills out? I once started a mission as Mesmer and asked if anyone who did it before knew what to expect, what I should take. Utter silence! I wound up taking the wrong skills. I recently tried Abaddon's mouth mission with my elementalist and two different parties, and both times we failed (I was the last to join the party). No one, not even the rangers or mesmers, had spell disrupting skills! Got stopped both times at the monk/necro boss duo.
Ok, ok, I am being a jerk here because I am off topic

I play a monk smiter.
When I join a group, I specifically say to everyone in the group that I'm a smiter, not a healer. If someone joins the group after me, I repeat it. If we don't have a healer in the group, I even say that we need a healer since I don't heal.
I find the jerks to be the people who get pissed at me during the mission/quest for not healing them even though I've made it clear I'm not a healer.
Most people seem to appreciate that I specifically address the issue at the start. But there are always those occasional few jerks....

The biggest jerks are definitely in the arena, but they lurk in the rest of the game also.
I was listening to my husband swearing at the computer, asked what was wrong. He was putting a group together for an infusion-only fight/run. He was playing his ranger. He gets one or two people ready to go, including a monk, then gets invited into a group where he is no longer the leader. The leader promptly kicks him and keeps the monk. This happens with 2 or 3 more groups! Jeez, I realize people only give a hoot about rangers in the Fire Islands, but for goodness' sake, it's only a freaking infusion run!
When I was in pre-searing, and people would offer to buy or sell dyes in local chat, I would say, "People should hold onto their dyes, they become valuable later on." I also expound a little on fair market value LOL, which some are incapable of understanding (“But if they will sell their black to me at 50gp, that’s their decision”). A few times I have been whisper-threatened by scammers: "Stay out of my business bitch" etc, etc. Heh. OK Tony Soprano, go ahead and report me for publicly humiliating a scammer. Dare ya.
[As an aside, when these discussions go on in pre, many many times I will get support from others around; they’ll say “Yeah, black is at 9k today” and so forth… so, thank you, fellow honest folk!]
My last example, I'm not sure whether it was jerkiness, ultra-high defensiveness, or simple illiteracy. However, he did know how to type big words so I really don't know. I was in Comp Arena with my warrior, and I was on a team with a few wins under our belt. After this one match, in which I died (it happens!), but we won anyway, I thanked our monk for healing me. The next battle begins… fragmented sentences due to being in middle of battle:
Jerky Monky (not real name): thanks for sarcasm
Me: wasnt being sarcastic
Jerky Monky: yes you were
Me: no I meant it
Me: thanks really
Jerky Monky: STFU
Me: wasnt being sarcastic
Me: really
Jerky Monky: your sarcasm leads me to the conclusion that you are a noob
And he puts me on HIS ignore list.
(Now, how could he read sarcasm through text-only?) Maybe I'm naive but I usually take things at face value. Now I pretty much stick to gg, np, lol and ty. Awfully boring conversationalist, but at least it won't get me into trouble.

Things I hate
1-Leavers
2-Smiting monks who don't tell you they aren't healing
3-Scammers
4-Sore losers
5-Self centered people with 1 goal in mind (only doing bonus etc...)
6-Nothing to say @sshats. (You ask a simple question in *all chat* they insult you back for no reason)
7-Sore winners
8-Punnishers
(You say something false on *all chat* or team chat and instead of being graciously corrected you are verbally whiplashed)
9-Whinners
(No monk? Not winning easilly? They either leave or whine about it)
10-The n00bzorz that have FoW super secret armor and super triple godly weapons of my @ss.
